These 3 hours of lectures will cover this topic in a practical and detailed manner and will be targeted at general practitioners involved in Implant Dentistry. Due to the immense volume of the material, the lecture style will be condensed into a “meat and potatoes”, “bottom line” style that will be fast-moving. As the webinars will be recorded, attendees can review the material at their leisure in order to attain the maximum benefit. The webinar material will be a combination of many of Dr. Arlin’s clinical cases complemented with his “in-house statistics” based on the 15,000 implants he has placed and documented for up to a 30-year follow-up. As well the presentations will be extensively referenced in the published literature to make sure they are “evidence-based”.

“Dental Implant related complications and failures, unfortunately, do occur and have been shown to be on the rise as more implants are being placed and followed for longer time periods. Dentists will be confronted with these complications and need to be knowledgeable and competent to treat these patients.  While some complications are easier to deal with, complications of all types present the patient and all members of the team with many stressful issues. This lecture will discuss different types of complications and failures and the associated risk factors for them, as well as present many of Dr. Arlin’s cases along with their prevention and remediation”.

Summary of the Lecture Topics and Objectives:

• Understand the difference between “early” and “late” implant complications

• Learn about identifying quality “evidence-based information”

• Appreciate the pros and cons of Private Practice Studies

• Include 30-year data from Dr. Arlin’s clinical study on his 15,000 implants

• Review MANY “risk factors” for “early” and “late” implant complications including Patient Related, Operator Related and Biomaterial Risk factors.

• Review both “implant in-depth” and “prosthetic” failures and complications

• Illustrate prevention techniques to minimize the risk of complications

• Present many cases showing complications and failures and their remediation

• Discuss the effects of complications on the patient, and dental team
